Safa (1987) is a diaspora-born Palestinian artist and storyteller. She tells her own stories through mixed media textile art that combines traditional Palestinian embroidery (tatreez) with modern motifs and methods such as photography, collage, quilting, beading, and painting. She first learned Palestinian embroidery as a child from her mother, master artist and USA National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) National Heritage Fellow, earning the Lifetime Achievement. Safa has lived in Germany since 2011. In 2024, she visited Palestine for the first time and hopes to return to deepen her artistic and storytelling skills by learning from local experts. Safa also does journalistic writing and works at the intersection of social justice and technology.
